Probably like many people in many areas of the USA, I get sick and tired of being sick and tired about the Disney-esque way that my local world is presented by our local corporate media wizards, or the hordes of bad PR agents working to sell the fantasy viewpoint that EVERYTHING IS JUST FINE AND DANDY in our Grand City of Dayton, Ohio.

Real Photos from the Streets of Dayton, Ohio 06-13-06

Prostitute on Xenia Ave. does the
zig-zag march of slow death and desperation.

Able-bodied man drinks a tall boy on
Xenia Ave. at 3:30 in the afternoon.

A bright spot on the East side! The old silent movie
theatre and later Kelly's bar on Wyoming street
has had the facade of the building brought back to life
by the Walnut Hills Neighborhood Association. I
personally spent more than a few hours on ladders
power washing and painting this grand old dame.

The former Diner on St. Clair is now Pearl Nightclub.

Woman chases after her dog who was chasing a
cat on Xenia Ave.

Coco's Bistro is a FABULOUS restaurant formerly in
the Oregon District, and now will occupy a building
on the edge of the Oregon on Wayne Ave. across from
the Dayton Gym Club.

The Century Bar is still going strong, despite the
greatest lunch in the world no longer being served.

Graffiti sprayed garage off of Dover Street on the
East side serves as a battleground over who is the
dumbest and most politically powerless group of teens
in the whole city: East Side Possee or the
Greenwich Village Gang, GVG.

The economy is so bad in Dayton that many men
can no longer afford the luxury item called a belt.

Woman and man wait for the RTA on Wayne Ave.

The Blue Moon in the Oregon District is a great restaurant
guaranteed to be so expensive as to keep
most Dayton residents away.

Brother smoking a black and mild on Wayne Ave.

Cleveland Browns fan waits for the RTA on
Wayne Ave. near the 35 overpass.

Young east enders take pride in their lack
of shirts and new pit bull puppy at Wayne
and Wyoming Street.

The grand view going down Wayne Ave.
near Westbrock Funeral Home.

Dayton is home to lots, and lots of
elderly folks. This grandma was crossing
Wyoming at Wayne Ave.
