Probably like many people in many areas of the USA, I get sick and tired of being sick and tired about the Disney-esque way that my local world is presented by our local corporate media wizards, or the hordes of bad PR agents working to sell the fantasy viewpoint that EVERYTHING IS JUST FINE AND DANDY in our Grand City of Dayton, Ohio.

Real Photos from the Streets of Dayton, Ohio 06-21-06

on a few of the photos this time, I'm going to do something a bit different. In the course of shooting photographs for this blog (which are all taken from my car), I miss a lot of the subjects I intend to be shooting, but capture a lot of cool photos unintentionally.

my challenge to you: identify the place some of these unintential misses came from. No prizes (your prize is when I publish this blog - WITHOUT ANY PAYMENT)!

So without further adieu, the first three photos are published for you to guess where in the city they came from.

Mystery photo #1

Mystery photo #2

Mystery photo #3 (don't let the Sinclair sign fool you)

As has been stated previously, Dayton hosts
a large percentage of Montgomery County's handicapped
population, due to the quick access to medical care,
and inexpensive living. Here a woman wheels in front
of Kroger on Wayne Ave.

RTA Bus stop at Fourth and Main at
approximately two in the afternoon.

Man appears to be upchucking front of Gem City Records
after listening to the latest major record label releases.

Elderly woman crosses the street at Fourth and Ludlow.

Two fellas cross the street in front of the old Arcade Seafood on Ludlow.

While another fellow follows.

Occasionally you will spot a deer wandering around
downtown Dayton that has veered off of the Miami
River corridor, but mostly it's just lawyers
or their clients wandering around.

Cyclist prepares to cross the street in
front of the Dayton Convention Center.

American Tire Service on Wayne Ave.
If low-budget is your tire budget,
this is a good place to go as they've
got used tires ready to go.

The soon to be former Dayton Daily
News building on Fourth and Ludlow.

Democratic Headquarters on Wilkinson Street.

1) I'm going to guess Riverside Dr - although it could be just about anywhere.

2) Not a clue

3) Looks like the garage by the greyhound station - 4th and Jefferson area?

I think #2 looks like it could be that Boys Club over at Wayne & Keowee & US 35.

As a former Miami Valleyian now living in western NY, I enjoy the blog. Nice to see that the city I think I see when I visit my folks hasn't changed much from the city I remember from my youth.

my guess for #1, the end of Stewart St, near Wayne Ave

Hi There!

I had #2 right off the bat, having driven that trumpet on-ramp onto US 35 from Wayne/Keowee many a time.

I had no clue on #3.

For #1, I'm going to guess that it is the retaining wall for the US 35 overpass near the intersections of Patterson, Main and Buckeye Streets, near The Breakfast Club.

And hey, what better payment for an artist to receive than to have an audience?

Yes, No. 1 is the concrete wall at the end of Stewart Street next to Wayne Ave.

Be looking for lots of new photos soon.

Sorry I haven't spoken up earlier, Dave. "Real Photos From The Streets Of Dayton, Ohio, USA" is amazing. I've lived here for 25 years and now I'm seeing it through a new pair of eyes: great work! Keep it up!
