Probably like many people in many areas of the USA, I get sick and tired of being sick and tired about the Disney-esque way that my local world is presented by our local corporate media wizards, or the hordes of bad PR agents working to sell the fantasy viewpoint that EVERYTHING IS JUST FINE AND DANDY in our Grand City of Dayton, Ohio.

Greek Orthodox Church on Belmonte Park Drive next to the Dayton Art Institute

line dancing, feta style

Didn't I see this guy in a news stand in NYC or at a horse track?

Rock and roll hoochie coos.

In Dayton, the beer man is still everyman's hero.

Dancing does a body good.

The Dayton Greek Orthodox Temple.

Greek Orthodox Priest takes it in.

Young Greek dancers perform some sort
of cultural ritual involving dancing around boys.

Stylin' Greek style.

The Greek Festival is a great place to take
your Boy Scout Troop to brush up on feta factoids.

This lady just got up and shook her ass,
arms and legs, and I like that a lot.

Don't believe me, check out this
video I took of her and put on youtube.com

Waiting for the church tour to begin.

"Olives, we got olives. Tasty wine too."

This kid was on mama like glue.

Ahh...King Greek is a pickin' and a grinnin'

Photos from the annual First Annual Walnut Hills Neighborhood Yard Sale

Two sisters out shopping the yard sale circuit
in Walnut Hills before the big Ohio State-Texas game.

This dude on the right could barely walk,
let alone discuss the pros and cons of proper
dental care for the three teeth he had left,
or what could possibly be the worse mohawk
in the history of recorded haircuts.

Football Game @ Harmon Field in Miamisburg, Ohio

The life of a high-school cheerleader is fastidious and blurry.

Oh to be in the marching band with places to go.

The National Champion Miamisburg Color Guard
peforms at halftime (my little one is in there)!

away in order to talk to other kids.

Miamisburg coach talks to his quarterback.

Two little redneck kids do what redneck kids
do best, fight and wrestle each other in a
never-ending battle of brawn over brains.

Finally, unrelated to everything else on this
entry of the Real Photos from the Streets of Dayton
Photoblog is Donut Palace, on the corner of Gettysburg
and Salem Ave. There's nothing to calm the soul
quite like Lottery and Donuts to start another day of false hope.

I graduated from Miamisburg High School in the early 90's. It was great seeing these photos! Really took me back. Thanks again.

I'm 47 and I left Dayton eighteen years ago with two bullet holes that I'll never forget. The city must be cursed ,how else could you explain it. I'ts degrading in Dayton ( Degratin in Dayton). I remember freezing my young ass off at Icelandia skating rink. An old black man would go out on the ice with a hose to resurface the rink. Then he would drive a WWII jeep with plywood in front of it to smooth the water. That would have been in the late 60s. I currently live in Minneapolis and know the meaning of true cold. Last winter the air temp (not windchill) was -35% and that a cold front was moving in that evening. Dayton can't even do cold right. Buenas suerte y'll, you are going to need it. P.S. Rest in peace David Sarno and Toro Russel. jonr
