Meanwhile, the drug wheeling and dealing
goes on outside of the store unabated. Why
they just don't legalize it, bring it inside of the
store and collect those taxes for schools, I'll never
know, other than maybe putting too many
criminals - in and out of government - out of work.

Thank you for posting the photo of the beer drive-thru! I lived in Dayton for many years (and still visit the in-laws there regularly), but moved to Portland, Oregon about a decade ago. I've told people out here about beer drive-thrus and they find it difficult to believe such a thing exists! Of course, my Dayton friends find it hard to believe that out here in Portland, head shops advertise on network tv. Can you imagine Philman's or the Import House running ads during "Seinfeld" re-runs? The conservatives in Dayton might have heart attacks, lol!
Keep up the good work. Your blog is one of my favorites, and is linked on my own blog.
Thanks for coming down to my "hood". Five Oaks and North Dayton is an ideal snapshot of the state Dayton is in. You missed the working girls though. Come 'round early in the AM next time.
If you look real close at the far right side of the Wympees photo you can see me at the window of my second story office in the library.
These are great pictures of Dayton.
I lived on West First Street and went to Edison School in the 1950s. Could you take some pictures of that area, how it looks now? I moved away and haven't been able to get back there, but I've heard it is really changed for the worse.
